COMMITMENT TO SUSTAINABILITY AND THE CIRCULAR ECONOMY
Grow Studios was founded in 2007 on the principles of the sharing and circular economy - where space, tools, skills, and materials are shared, reused, and upcycled wherever possible.
We believe ecological and financial sustainability go hand in hand. That’s why we are:
Committed to paying the London Living Wage as a minimum
Powering our studios through solar energy and green electricity
Supporting local suppliers and independent businesses
Grow functions as a living ecosystem that nurtures a cooperative, localised economy - where creative and commercial value circulates within the community. Examples include:
Community bakers and microgreen growers supplying nearby small businesses, including Grow Hackney
Sculptors and artists collaborating across disciplines (e.g. Memorial Benches in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park)
DIY art markets, Open Studios (as part of Open House Festival London), and exhibitions at Grow Hackney’s Mezz Gallery
