COMMITMENT TO SUSTAINABILITY AND THE CIRCULAR ECONOMY

Grow Studios was founded in 2007 on the principles of the sharing and circular economy - where space, tools, skills, and materials are shared, reused, and upcycled wherever possible.

We believe ecological and financial sustainability go hand in hand. That’s why we are:

  • Committed to paying the London Living Wage as a minimum

  • Powering our studios through solar energy and green electricity

  • Supporting local suppliers and independent businesses

Grow functions as a living ecosystem that nurtures a cooperative, localised economy - where creative and commercial value circulates within the community. Examples include:

  • Community bakers and microgreen growers supplying nearby small businesses, including Grow Hackney

  • Sculptors and artists collaborating across disciplines (e.g. Memorial Benches in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park)

  • DIY art markets, Open Studios (as part of Open House Festival London), and exhibitions at Grow Hackney’s Mezz Gallery
